Yet another suspect has been arrested in connection with stealing bingo funds. The present case took place in Monmouth County, New Jersey, at a Roman Catholic Church. The suspect, Thomas Scalgione of Stafford County, allegedly ran off with his former church's progressive bingo jackpot.
Several nights went by with the progressive jackpot at St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church remaining intact and growing. It ultimately swelled into close to $8,000, and one night, after seeing that no one hit the progressive jackpot, reportedly claimed it for himself.
In the past, Scalgione had attended the church, and even volunteered at its bingo games, which he later allegedly pilfered.
Scalgione's charges include theft by deception and uttering a forged instrument, for which was arrested and later released on $10,000 bail.
