An impending bingo bill in the state of Connecticut was recently passed in the state House of Representatives, and now awaits review by the Senate. The bill proposes to raise the prize cap on senior citizens bingo games from $5 to $20. Advocates of the bill, namely senior citizen organizations, claim that with such paltry prizes, it's a struggle to attract players.
The bill also requires that bingo players not be charged more than $1 to play, and organizers are forbidden from taking a cut of the proceeds.
If the bingo bill is passed, the Division of Special Revenue will need to issue new permits, a process which will cost the state less than $1,000.
