In the town of North Coventry, Pennsylvania, bingo has left the church basement. In the Coventry Mall, the second Tuesday of each month is bingo day. The managers of the mall convert the food court into a bingo hall. Hundreds of players join the game, a monthly tradition started over ten years ago.
Many seniors enjoy taking daily walks at malls, especially in areas without safe walking paths or when weather is inclement. The bingo games attract the walking crowd, giving them a chance to relax, socialize, and win prizes of gift certificates to various shops at the Coventry Mall. There are even clubs that regularly meet to play bingo at the mall. Seniors aren’t the only ones welcome. Anyone over 18 is eligible to play, and admission is free.
