Brownfield Charities, responsible for developing Dayton, Ohio’s historic downtown Arcade, is applying for a bingo license. Brownfield Charities founder and trustee Tony Staub hopes that bingo will help bring in the money needed to cover back taxes of $120,952 owed for the five-building historical Arcade.
Staub hopes that like other charities, which are bringing in funding from bingo games, Brownfield will be able to bring in the money required to pay the taxes. While tax officials are holding off at the moment, there is some indication that if Staub does not organize a payment plan soon, tax authorities will seize the charity’s assets.
The charity’s work mainly involves accepting donations of historic or old buildings, revamping them, selling them and then giving the profits to charitable causes. The Arcade is currently for sale for $6 million, but only a few buyers have expressed interest in the five buildings.
