German Flatts, a town in upstate New York, will be having its third annual game of Cow Bingo on June 12th. The event, a fundraiser for the German Flatts Town Park’s upkeep, will feature a special bingo “caller,” Martina the cow. Martina will be put in a special pen in the town park. The pen is sectioned off into a grid of numbers.
Martina will be determining the fate of a few hundred bingo bets. For four hours, Martina will be allowed to walk around in her special pen, and at the end of that time, judges will count where Martina left the most cow pies to determine the winning number.
There are four sets of bingo numbers. Event participants will pay $5 each for their numbers, and the winning number will pay $250 to each holder of a winning number. The additional money will be used for improvements to the park
The small town of German Flatts, located north of Cooperstown, the home of baseball, raised about $1000 at last year’s Cow Plop Bingo event, which was used for general upkeep of the park and for adding bike and walking paths.
