With seven bingo clubs, and the UK’s winning caller in 2002, Wales is a bingo-friendly place.
But a Department of Work and Pensions worker appears to have a bingo addiction, proving that bingo isn't always so friendly. Julie Evans was convicted of having stolen more than $40,000 from her government agency employer to fund her bingo habit.
When her husband was asked, he told the press that his wife is honest and hardworking, but must have developed a serious addiction to bingo. He reported that he hadn’t noticed a problem until the police got involved in March.
Mrs. Evans was sentenced to eight months in prison for her regular thefts of up to $180 each day.
