“Meet the Press” host Tim Russert is known for giving similar speeches at the various graduation ceremonies he is invited to. Some Harvard graduating seniors decided to make a bingo game out of his speech. They made bingo cards with key phrases from previous graduation speeches, and handed them out to 50 graduates.
When graduates filled in their lines, they did call out “bingo,” but Russert and others on the podium did not here the calls and were not disturbed. In fact, Russert heard about the bingo game only later, and said that he was pleased he had been able to get the Harvard students, rumored to be snobbish at times, to play such a “common” game. He said he hoped he would be able to get them to eat chicken wings in the future.
As for the students, they said the speech was interesting and enjoyable.
