In Pennsylvania, bingo is the exclusive territory of non-profit organizations such as churches, Veteran’s of Foreign Wars bases, and Volunteer Fire Departments. The intent is that only organizations that provide community services make money from the bingo, and that no individual strike it rich by operating bingo.
A volunteer firefighter from the Clinton Township volunteer fire company seemed to think that the law wasn’t written for him. Over the past two and a half years, 42-year-old Jody King of Montgomery allegedly took over $50,000 from his station’s bingo revenues. King was caught stealing the bingo earnings using a surveillance camera placed in the fire station by officials from the department.
