If you see a man in a blue calico dress carrying a basket into the Empire Room in Greensboro, North Carolina, don't worry, he's headed for bingo. Ditto for the man with the straw coming out of the bottom of his jeans. It's called Green Queen Bingo, and this month's theme is “Over the Rainbow.”
The Guilford Green Foundation is a nonprofit that raises money for several organizations that serve the gay community. They support the Triad Health Project, which provides service for HIV/AIDS victims. The group's top fund-raiser is bingo, and it's anything but boring. So if you're in Greensboro, NC on August 19, be sure to dress up as someone from the Land of Oz and go play some bingo. Tickets are available for $15 through the website triadhealthproject.com/events.html .
