A woman from Mason City, Iowa, was convicted of bingo fraud. Robyn R. McCann, 39, operated bingo games, and filed reports with the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals, falsely stating that she had paid 75% of the net receipts to the Mason City Youth Baseball Association.
Under Iowa state law, bingo operators must turn over at least 75% of their net receipts to a charitable organization to maintain their state license. After McCann's violation and subsequent trial, she was ordered to pay $14,435 to the organization. In addition, McCann was sentenced to 18 months of probation.
