Most people think of bingo as a fairly competitive game, and everyone enjoys a good win, but in addition to the game itself, it turns out that competition is fierce for bingo calling as well. Scotland is looking for 2005’s best bingo caller, and the competition is wilder than usual. In fact, two of the remaining competitors are from the same family.

Ian Carroll, caller at Gala Bingo in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, won the title in 2002, and now he’s facing an interesting challenge. He and his wife’s brother, Nicky Davis, are among the last remaining contenders for the title. Ian is 41, and his brother-in-law is much younger, just 20. The question is who Alison Davis Carroll will be rooting for. Her husband or her brother?
