For the UK-based Rank Group, rising operation costs for their Mecca Bingo clubs have dropped profits. The company said that although its gambling businesses, which include Grosvenor Casinos, saw a 20% increase in revenues, but bingo and sportsbetting income was down significantly.

UK bingo is expected to do better this year, though, following a law which allows bingo players to join bingo clubs and play immediately, without the previous 24-hour waiting period. In the meantime, the Rank Group is planning to sell Deluxe Media and Deluxe Film. Estimates claim that Rank’s Deluxe arm is worth about £600 million ($1.1 billion).
