Bingo Bids Bye-Bye to Oregon's Largest Casino
| In a sad move, Spirit Mountain Casino, the state of Oregon's largest gambling establishment, has closed down its bingo hall. Citing a desire to introduce yet another slot machine parlor to the gambling complex, casino officials seem to be more interested in their venue's bottom line than the satisfaction of their clientèle. Bingo patrons, who for years attended daily and weekly bingo games at the Oregon casino, expressed great sorrow over the loss of their favorite hall. |

IRS Attempts to Take a Bite out of Church-Goer's Bingo Winnings
| A woman from St. Louis recently received a shocking letter in the mail from the IRS, demanding that she fork over over $50,000 in taxes owed for a bingo win of $150,00 in her local church game. What is shocking about the letter is that the woman, Rose Waggoner, never won anywhere near that much bingo money in the first place. Although Waggoner has won other more modest sums of money at her church's bingo functions in the past, the amounts were not large enough to require being reported to the IRS. |

Bingo Winner Gets a House Call from Three Robbers
| Usually, a big bingo win guarantees smiles for those fortunate enough to get their numbers called. Unfortunately for Patricia White, however, three thieves had other ideas for her bingo winnings. White, who lives in the ironically-named Pleasanton, California, with her sister, was followed home from a charity bingo event where she had just won $2,200. Three robbers, all aged between 19 and 22, accosted White upon entering her home in the wee hours of the morning, and injured her and her sister in the process of nabbing the bingo loot. |
