Proving that bingo fits in perfectly with the stereotypical Jamaican “party” lifestyle, the Kingston Lions Club will be throwing a bingo party to benefit physically-challenged students of the University of the West Indies, Mona campus. Lions Club members will gather in the country's capital city on January 20th for a night of bingo to help fund a high-tech resource center for hearing-impaired and visually-impaired students.
The bingo proceeds will help the $31 million resource center be fitted with specially equipped library facilities, classrooms, and soundproof examination and recording booths for the physically challenged collegiate population. Also, for the benefit of visually-challenged university students, the bingo funds will be used to provide computer facilities for Braille translations.
