Denny Tribout Jr., of Belleville, Illinois, is aiming to take bingo a step further. The longtime game maker and distributor hopes to cash in on the popularity of two of America's favorite games, bingo and poker, by melding them into a single pastime. The game, dubbed “Dab It Poker,” brings together the daubing element of bingo play with the hand ranking system of poker.
To play, a player would first purchase a Dab It Poker card, which features five numbers, for a set fee. He or she would daub the numbers on the card as they appear on television screens in the playing hall. When each number is called, it is assigned a poker card. The first player to daub all five number on his or her card wins cash or a prize, and also gets the opportunity to win a secondary prize based on the poker hand the numbers on the bingo card indicate. Prizes are given out according to a payout schedule for any poker hand of a pair or greater.
After over a year of planning, Dab It Poker saw its debut at a local social club near Tribout's residence about three weeks ago. Tribout has officially patented the game, and hopes to take Dab It Poker national after showcasing it at next week's Bingo World Trade Show in Las Vegas.
