According to a recent report, South Africa's Northern Cape police officers and the Provincial Gambling Board raided several gaming venues in the town of Springbok. During the raid, the authorities found three illegal gambling facilities and confiscated their slot machines.
Thapelo Motsage, the Gambling Board spokesman, was reported as saying that over 40 slot machines were seized and thrown into an old mine shaft. According to Motsage, the goal of the operation was to eradicate all illegal gambling activities in the province.
Motsage also said that the with the help of local police officials the Gambling Board intended to arrest all operators who were involved in illegal casino gambling.
