According to a recent report, the Rank Group, owner of the prominent UK Mecca Bingo chain, recently announced that revenues generated by its Scottish clubs had dropped by 14% since the smoking ban was implemented 13 weeks ago.
Mecca Bingo's overall revenue for its 117 bingo parlors across the UK was reportedly down by 1% in the first two quarters of 2006.
The Rank Group also saw admissions decrease by 6% in the company's 14 Scottish bingo clubs since the ban was introduced. In addition, the spending amount per individual was down 9%.
A similar ban on smoking is slated for implementation in Wales and England by mid-2007.
