A new bingo caller was recently chosen to take part in Gala Bingo's Caller of the Year finals. Lee Walker, of Swindon, UK, will compete for the coveted 2006 title along with eight other candidates from across the U.K. Lee, 25, is an experienced bingo caller for he has been honing his calling skills at Greenbridge's Gala Bingo Club for as many as six years.

The grand final is scheduled to be held at the Gala Bingo Club in Birmingham on Sunday, July 16th. The winner will walk away with a trophy and a £500 (~ $920) grand prize. Lee and the other callers vying for the prestigious title will have to perform in front of a live audience of bingo players. According to Gala Bingo official Bob Smith, calling a bingo game is not as easy as it seems, especially when there is so much money at stake.
