Authorities in Galiano Island, British Columbia have been cracking down on some of the town's most weathered criminal minds. And who are these criminal masterminds? They are none other than local grandmas and grandpas who get together to...gasp... play bingo. Four undercover agents were enlisted with the daunting task of staking out the criminal underworld of senior citizen bingo, held at a local bed and breakfast.
The agents joined the bingo group for a $150-a-head bingo game and then spent the night at the B&B. In the morning, they busted the owner of the restaurant at her home for hosting bingo games without a license, informing her that she could face criminal charges. After the owner burst in the tears, the agents back down and promised to leave her with a $288 ticket instead.
The owner was quoted as saying that she offered the permit-less bingo during the winter months as a service to local seniors. She also claims that she did not profit from the games, but rather distributed the money back to players in the form of prizes.
