The New York State Racing and Wagering board recently decided to Syracuse Brigadiers' bingo activities after claiming that operations violated state charitable-gaming regulations. Following the decision, the Brigadiers are trying to reverse the decision, so they can get the multi-million dollar bingo hall reopened, claiming that regulations are ambiguous and even invented on the whim of authorities.

According to the Brigadiers, one of New York State's biggest non-profit organizations, they obtained a license for the bingo hall without a problem for twelve consecutive years, and only recently did authorities decide that organizations like the Brigadiers were unqualified for licensing.

In response to the state's actions against them, the group has submitted a petition to the state supreme court, protesting the measure. The Brigadiers further posit that the State Racing and Wagering board has made it very difficult for the group to defend themselves legally, thus making them incapable of achieving full compliance with regulations. The New York State Supreme Court is scheduled to meet to deliberate upon the Brigadiers' request in early February.
