Bingo halls of south Florida may have thought their trouble was over, but it seems that their relief was premature. Although court records show that investigations by the antitrust division of the U.S. Justice Department were put to rest, another agency seems to have picked up where the antitrust division left off. Exactly which agency currently spearheads the investigation is unknown at this time.
The antitrust division of the DOJ initially began its investigation in 2003, after accusations were directed at five bingo halls by owners of three competing halls, claiming that the former were involved in racketeering, price-fixing and extortion as a measure to exclude other bingo halls from the market.
