Tampa, Florida's Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino plans to add 225 slot machines to succeed the casino's recently nixed bingo parlor. The shift has some patrons up in arms.
The change appears to be largely economically driven, with slot machines producing significantly more revenue than bingo. Bingo has been deemed a "waste of space" by several tribal casinos, many of which are also reducing their bingo operations. Slot machines have the potential to bring in several hundred dollars per day, an amount bingo earnings can not even come close to.
However, bingo hasn't altogether disappeared from Florida's Seminole Gambling sites. A free standing bingo facility is still maintained in Hollywood, in addition to bingo games hosted at four other Seminole Casinos across the state not affiliated with the Hard Rock name.
