Video bingo recently suffered a blow in Wyoming when a state legislative committee voted against the game, only a few weeks after a District Judge declared it illegal according to state laws. The House Travel Committee struck down the bill to legalize electronic bingo in a 7-2 vote. The bill would have legalized video bingo for a trial period of one year.
Although gambling on the whole is illegal in Wyoming, charitable organizations are permitting to host bingo games in order to raise money for altruistic objectives. In the Judge's ruling earlier this month, electronic bingo was declared to have little in common with its traditional cardboard and dauber version, and more with slots.
Following the committee's decision, many video bingo operators, who profited from an increased interest in the electronic version of the game, were forced to close their doors.
